Students from the Communication Science Study Program at
Universitas Gajayana (UNIGA) Malang have once again conducted their
Communication Field Work (Kuliah Kerja Komunikasi / KKK) in Mandesan
Village, Blitar Regency. The students' presence was warmly received by the
Mandesan Village Government as a collaborative effort to support the
development of local village potential through digital communication and
publication strategies.
The Head of Mandesan Village explained that the village,
which previously held underdeveloped status, has now evolved into an
independent village. This transformation is the result of sustainable
development carried out over his three terms of leadership, notably by
converting underutilized village assets into the Bon Jambu Educational
Tourism Site.
The pioneering of the tourism village began in 2019 by
utilizing village-owned land for guava cultivation. Although briefly halted due
to the COVID-19 pandemic, the development resumed and now actively contributes
to the village's original revenue (PAD). On weekends, the Bon Jambu
Educational Tourism Site attracts approximately 500 to 800 visitors.
According to the Village Head, the success of this tourism
development is inseparable from the collaboration between the local government
and the community. Residents were provided with fruit cultivation training and
encouraged to actively participate in supporting the sustainability of the
tourism village, ensuring shared economic benefits.
He also expressed high appreciation for the contributions of
UNIGA Communication Science students who have conducted their field work in
Mandesan Village over the past few years. The various digital content created
by the students is credited with expanding the promotional reach of the Bon
Jambu Educational Tourism Site across multiple social media platforms.
"UNIGA Communication Science students have been
immensely helpful in marketing. The content produced and published through
social media has made the Bon Jambu Educational Tourism Site increasingly known
to the public, not only in East Java but also across various other
regions," he stated.
The Mandesan Village Government hopes that the local
community will increasingly understand the importance of digital promotion and
actively participate in showcasing the village's potential on social media.
Community involvement is considered a crucial factor in maintaining the
long-term sustainability of the tourism village.
Through this year's Communication Field Work, the Mandesan
Village Government expects students to build close collaborations with
residents and make tangible contributions toward developing local potential.
This synergy is anticipated to strengthen the promotion of the Bon Jambu
Educational Tourism Site, enhancing its visibility and delivering sustainable
benefits for the people of Mandesan Village.
