A quiet yet productive atmosphere has begun to envelop the
campus of Universitas Gajayana (Uniga) Malang. Starting today, January 12
through February 13, 2026, Uniga Malang officially enters its odd semester
break for the 2025/2026 academic year. Although face-to-face classroom lectures
are temporarily suspended, the campus gates remain wide open for non-academic
activities and scholarly development conducted by both students and faculty
members.
The semester break does not mean faculty activities come to
a halt. On the contrary, it is during this period that Uniga Malang lecturers
shift their full focus to the other two pillars of the Three Pillars of Higher
Education (Tri Dharma): Research and Community Service. A number of
lecturers are actively engaged in finalizing research, conducting community
service programs by heading directly to partner villages to provide education,
training, and technological assistance, as well as preparing for the upcoming
even semester.
In other corners of the campus, students involved in the
Student Executive Board (BEM), Departmental Student Associations (HMJ), and
Student Activity Units (UKM) remain busy. Long breaks often serve as a
"golden" opportunity for organizations to execute major work programs
that are difficult to manage during packed lecture schedules.
"We are taking advantage of this time to carry out
leadership regeneration and prepare for our work meetings. Without the burden
of classes, coordination among members becomes much more flexible," said a
student representative in the Student Corner area.
The university administration ensures that supporting
facilities, such as laboratories, the library, and organizational secretariats,
remain accessible under applicable protocols. This measure aims to maintain a
productive climate within Uniga Malang throughout the holiday season. Following
this nearly month-long break, the entire academic community is scheduled to
resume even semester classes on February 16, 2026.
