The rapid advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AI)
technology is triggering massive disruption across various job sectors,
including the accounting and business professions. Responding to this global
phenomenon, the Accounting Student Association (Himpunan Mahasiswa Akuntansi
/ Himaksi) at Universitas Gajayana (Uniga) Malang successfully hosted the
2026 National Artificial Intelligence Seminar.
The event was conducted in a hybrid format, centered at the
Uniga Malang Postgraduate Hall while simultaneously broadcasting online on
Thursday, June 11, 2026. Carrying the overarching theme "AI Future
Professions: Opportunities, Challenges, and Redlines," the seminar
invited participants to thoroughly explore how AI is shaping the future of
professions while mapping out opportunities, challenges, and ethical boundaries
alongside industry experts.
The national seminar featured two expert speakers skilled in
technology and professional integration: M. Cendekia Airlangga, S.T., M.Sc.,
and R. Hari Setiawan, S.Kom., M.Kom. In their presentations, the speakers
highlighted that the presence of AI does not necessarily eradicate human roles,
but rather transforms workflows toward greater innovation and creativity.
The session that captured the greatest audience engagement
was the discussion surrounding "redlines"—boundaries that Artificial
Intelligence must not cross. The experts emphasized that no matter how
sophisticated an AI algorithm becomes, essential human qualities remain
irreplaceable: ethics, integrity, professional judgment, and empathy. This
marks the defining line; while AI can process numbers rapidly, ethical
decision-making and moral accountability rest firmly in human hands.
The synergy between the Himaksi organizing committee and
university management created a dynamic discussion space. Participants—both in
the Postgraduate Hall and joining virtually—actively posed critical questions
concerning psychological readiness and skill sets required for entering the
post-campus workforce.
Through this national seminar, Himaksi Uniga Malang aims to
broaden students' intellectual horizons, ensuring they are not overwhelmed by
technological shifts, but are instead empowered to harness AI technology to
propel their future professional careers.
