Universitas Gajayana (UNIGA) Malang has demonstrated its
strong commitment to supporting national development agendas. The Rector of
UNIGA Malang, Prof. Dr. Ernani Hadiyati, accompanied by the Vice Rectors and
executive leadership, directly attended the grand national gathering titled the
National Symposium (Sarasehan Kebangsaan), held at the Jakarta
International Convention Centre (JICC) on June 26–28, 2026.
Carrying the theme "Strategies for Economic
Independence and Indonesian Welfare," the symposium was initiated by
the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Kemdiktisaintek)
in close collaboration with the Council of Rectors of Indonesian State
Universities (MRPTNI).
This prestigious event was officially opened by the
President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto. In his opening
address, the President emphasized the vital role of higher education
institutions as primary engines in cultivating human resources prepared to
accelerate the nation's economic self-reliance.
Accompanying the President, the Minister of Higher
Education, Science, and Technology (Mendiktisaintek), Prof. Brian
Yuliarto, highlighted that this forum was designed not merely for academic
discourse, but as a strategic cross-sectoral collaborative space to align
visions in full support of national development and industrialization agendas.
The presence of UNIGA Malang’s executive leadership at JICC
serves as tangible proof of the university's readiness to assume a strategic
role within its domain. On the sidelines of the event, the Rector of UNIGA
Malang noted that their involvement in this national forum is crucial for
aligning the campus’s research and community service direction with the
government’s industrialization roadmap.
"We attend with total commitment. UNIGA Malang wants to
ensure that our curriculum, innovation, and research commercialization at the
regional level directly support the pillars of economic independence
established by the President," stated the Rector.
Throughout the forum, UNIGA Malang Vice Rectors also
actively explored tactical partnership opportunities with fellow higher
education institutions under MRPTNI, as well as with industry stakeholders and
relevant government ministries.
With the conclusion of this national symposium, higher
education institutions are expected to move in unison rather than operating in
isolation, advancing together to steer Indonesia toward true economic
independence.
