The Student Executive Board (BEM) of Universitas Gajayana Malang successfully organized a major event titled Student Organization (Ormawa) Upgrading. Held on Monday, April 27, 2026, the event took place in the Postgraduate Hall of Uniga Malang and was attended by organizational functionaries from various faculties.

Carrying the provocative theme, "Student Organizations at a Crossroads: Between Idealism and the Reality of Campus Apathy," the event was designed to address growing concerns over declining student participation in organizational life.

The event was officially opened by the Vice Rector II of Uniga Malang, Dr. Drs. Sugeng Mulyono. In his opening address, he provided administrative guidance and also served as a speaker. He emphasized that university progress relies heavily on active collaboration between campus administration and students. "Students must be able to balance academic obligations with organizational responsibilities. Student organizations are the finest platform to mature leadership skills before entering society," Dr. Sugeng stated.

To broaden participants' perspectives, BEM Uniga invited Moh Fauzi, Coordinator of BEM Malang Raya, as a guest speaker. Fauzi dissected the increasingly prevalent phenomenon of "Campus Apathy" and shared strategies for student organization leaders to remain relevant in advocating student issues.

Student Body President of Uniga Malang, Hendra Muansyah, serving as the event organizer, stated that this activity represents an initial step toward reigniting the movement spirit on campus. The event is expected to strengthen internal solidarity among student organizations across Uniga while heightening student awareness regarding their role as agents of change.

This Upgrading session is envisioned not merely as a ceremonial gathering, but as a momentum for Uniga Malang students to close ranks once more. Equipped with insights from both administrative and student movement perspectives, Uniga student organizations are now prepared to face campus realities with a renewed spirit of idealism.
