The Doctoral Program in Management Science (Program
Doktor Ilmu Manajemen / PDIM) at the Postgraduate School of Universitas
Gajayana (UNIGA) Malang has etched a golden milestone in its academic history.
In January 2026, Dr. Alvin Arifin was officially declared to have passed and
conferred with a Doctoral degree, making him the very first graduate of the
doctoral program.
The solemn Open Doctoral Promotion Defense was attended
directly by the leadership of UNIGA Malang, the board of examiners, and the
broader Postgraduate School academic community. Dr. Alvin Arifin's achievement
represents more than a personal milestone; it symbolizes significant
institutional progress for the university in delivering the highest level of
academic education.
The presence of colleagues from Universitas Bahauddin
Mudhary Madura (UNIBA Madura) marked another historical moment during the
ceremony. The event highlighted Dr. Alvin Arifin's extensive academic network
and the strong inter-institutional support among higher education institutions.
Dr. Alvin himself is known for his high dedication to management research that
is highly relevant to contemporary industry challenges.
In her address, the Rector of Universitas Gajayana Malang
expressed deep pride in this achievement. She emphasized that this first
doctoral graduation should serve as a catalyst and trigger for other PDIM
students currently pursuing their studies.
"Dr. Alvin Arifin's graduation is proof that the
curriculum and mentorship at PDIM UNIGA are functioning exceptionally well. We
hope this achievement serves as a strong motivation for fellow students to
complete their research promptly and follow in this success," she stated
before the invited guests.
Moving forward, PDIM UNIGA Malang—having officially produced
its first doctorate—is expected to continue nurturing management experts

quality produced by Universitas Gajayana Malang.
